What Is In in 2010: 1

January 24th, 2010

slit-2There are going to be a lot of hot, sultry looks emerging in the spring and summer season of 2010 and we are going to take a look at the two steamiest ones.

This one will cause a reaction like fire and ice wherever you go: dresses with high, high slits. This is the look ideal for fashionistas and stylish girls who want to show off their legs but don’t feel that microscopic mini skirts are really their thing.

Dresses with high splits have run the gamut from Lanvin to Versace; the trend is just getting started.

To pull it off properly, make sure you stay away from flats. A look like this begs for your best pair of high heels.

Tanned legs are a plus but if that’s not you, at least promise to go bare legged.

Hot Holiday Fashions for New Year’s: 2

December 29th, 2009

animal-print-2Ready for some more hot New Year’s fashions? Well, for one thing, we have the titillating, mysterious combination of black with purple. These two colors are notoriously fantastic for night time events because they give one the air of an enigma.

The only key is to be careful about combining your colors. Your shoes, dress, and bag should not all be purple; make sure the black balances.

Another hot trend involves shoes. Specifically, animal boots and booties are so hot they almost spark! Stella McCartney knows how to work this trend, as you can see here.

Now, in general, these shoes should only be worn with shorter outfits — short skirts or dresses, minis, et cetera. The hem should fall above the knee. Sweater dresses in particular look good with these animalistic booties!

Hot Holiday Fashions for New Year’s: 1

December 27th, 2009

metallic-dress-2Fashionistas, the big day — and bigger night — is coming, it is only four days away! How many of you have decided what you are going to wear on New Year’s Eve?

Your outfit is important, you know. What you are wearing when the ball drops and you usher in a brand new year most definitely sets the tone for your stylishness in the coming year.

If you have not made a final decision on your fashionable ensemble, allow me to make some suggestions! Metallic dresses are all the rage for New Year’s Eve. Their glitz and glitter lend themselves perfectly to the glamor of the occasion.

However, a dress with this much sparkle demands understated accessories. Shoes, accessories, and makeup should all be a bit more neutral; do not take the focus away from your dress.

Looking the Part at Holiday Parties: 2

December 22nd, 2009

skirt-2You should also have three varying black skirts: short, medium, and long. Long skirts — and LBDs — should be worn for more formal occasions, with the former being paired with silk tops in lovely jewel tones.

The medium length skirts and dresses are ideal for more casual parties and get togethers. Again, the skirt can be paired with beautiful silk tops, in more subdued but still lovely shades.

Short skirts and little black dresses are great for the edgy, fun, and slightly wild parties during the holidays.

In all cases, you can really go to town with your accessories. Stand out with your shoes, find the perfect pieces of jewelry, and even get down hot with scarves, hats, gloves, and things of that nature.

Looking the Part at Holiday Parties: 1

December 20th, 2009

lbd-3As we all well know, the holiday season is finally upon us. We also know that the fundamentals of this part of the year revolve around family, friends, and loved ones: spending time with each other, being thankful, expressing our love for each other — and for getting together to celebrate the season.

There are office parties, family parties, parties being thrown by friends and friends of friends and colleagues and acquaintances: there are so many parties, you can’t even count them!

But that does not mean you have to buy a separate outfit for all of these parties, oh no.

You just need some basic foundations, to begin with, and you can build with there. For instance, start off with the classic LBD, in several styles: short, medium, and long.

Dress Trends For Autumn/Winter 2010: 2

November 26th, 2009

trends-fall-winter-2009-2010-05Now that we have touched on the LBD, let’s go ahead and get into another trend in dresses that I am seeing pop up everywhere.  Right now – solid dresses seem to be the trends but slowly but surely, that is changing and designers are looking at switching it up a little bit and going with brighter and bigger colors.

Also what the designers are doing is mixing up the colors – for example, having one color on the bottom and one different color on the top.  That is something that has been gracing the runway since earlier this year and will still be going strong next year.

Dresses like this are extremely fresh and different and I have to say that I love them – I think that the designers really mix it up well and put the colors together fabulously!

When it comes to fashion, it is something that is constantly changing up and switching gears.  That is what we are here for though, to keep you in the loop about what is out there and what you can expect when you are looking for the latest fashion trends!  Well – I can tell you that the little black dress for the fall/winter has been updated and looks incredible!

Not only does this dress look awesome on the models but I can tell you that whether you are looking for a simple, little black dress or you want something that is a little bit more dramatic, I can assure you that they are walking down the runway!

These two designers are just two that really know what they are doing when they are coming up with designs … these two dresses are breathtaking!  More fashion tips in the next blog!

Style versus Fashion: 2

November 18th, 2009

trend-4At its heart, fashion simply revolves around clothing, you see. Style, however, is something entirely different. Style means you know exactly what works with your body shape and type, your height, your skin tone, the color of your hair, the color of your eyes, your personality, and your age.

True style can be likened to artistry. You know which colors, textures, and shapes work for you. You know what accessories heighten your outfit, which in turn further heightens your beauty.

You know what looks good and what does not. You know that anyone can mimic a trend but that it takes someone with true style to own it and make it their own. You know that what looks good on someone else may not necessarily look good on you … unless you specifically tailor it to yourself.

Style versus Fashion: 1

November 16th, 2009

trend-3There is an inherent problem with trendy fashions — they never last, and we often get sucked into them simply because they are the new, now thing. We buy into them because we see our favorite models, actresses, and musicians pulling them off flawlessly, forgetting that we do not have that kind of money, we do not have professional makeup artists, we do not have professional hair stylists, we do not have professional clothing stylists, and we do not have access to professional airbrushing features.

Sometimes, those fashionable trends do not suit every day women. Sometimes they do, sure, but quite often, the expense is just not worth something so fleeting.

So, if you really want to be fashion forward, it is worth it to learn the difference between fashion and style.

Cremation Jewelry: It’s Brand New In Jewelry!

October 31st, 2009

Cremation JewelryHave you ever heard of something called cremation jewelry?  Most people haven’t to be honest, but it is actually a growing fashion trend right now and I personally think that it is definitely one trend that I am into.  When both of my grandparents died, what I did was I actually got a little keepsake necklace that had their ashes into it.

While at the time, I did not know that other people are doing it, nor did I know that there are actually different styles out there but apparently, I was already in fashion even when I wasn’t really thinking about it.

Cremation Jewelry is actually booming right now and there are tons of different styles and looks out there for you to choose from – you just have to find the one that suits you.
