At its heart, fashion simply revolves around clothing, you see. Style, however, is something entirely different. Style means you know exactly what works with your body shape and type, your height, your skin tone, the color of your hair, the color of your eyes, your personality, and your age.
True style can be likened to artistry. You know which colors, textures, and shapes work for you. You know what accessories heighten your outfit, which in turn further heightens your beauty.
You know what looks good and what does not. You know that anyone can mimic a trend but that it takes someone with true style to own it and make it their own. You know that what looks good on someone else may not necessarily look good on you … unless you specifically tailor it to yourself.

There is an inherent problem with trendy fashions — they never last, and we often get sucked into them simply because they are the new, now thing. We buy into them because we see our favorite models, actresses, and musicians pulling them off flawlessly, forgetting that we do not have that kind of money, we do not have professional makeup artists, we do not have professional hair stylists, we do not have professional clothing stylists, and we do not have access to professional airbrushing features.
Sometimes, those fashionable trends do not suit every day women. Sometimes they do, sure, but quite often, the expense is just not worth something so fleeting.
So, if you really want to be fashion forward, it is worth it to learn the difference between fashion and style.

Have you ever heard of something called cremation jewelry? Most people haven’t to be honest, but it is actually a growing fashion trend right now and I personally think that it is definitely one trend that I am into. When both of my grandparents died, what I did was I actually got a little keepsake necklace that had their ashes into it.
While at the time, I did not know that other people are doing it, nor did I know that there are actually different styles out there but apparently, I was already in fashion even when I wasn’t really thinking about it.
Cremation Jewelry is actually booming right now and there are tons of different styles and looks out there for you to choose from – you just have to find the one that suits you.

We all know that Victoria Beckham is one Spice Girl that has been a fashion icon since … forever it seems. Now, the model/star is going to be tossing in her heels and coming up with her very own line of accessories.
When I think about Victoria Beckham – most of the time I think about her hair, however that face, the beauty that she has, the fashion trends that she sets … oh, it’s incredible.
Now Victoria Beckham actually has a chance to go ahead and make her own line and I think that is pretty damn cool. She is going to start making some evening wear and definitely going to be making some other suitable accessories.

We all know that Katie Holmes is one of those chicks that keeps up on the ever-changing and ever-growing fashion trends. She actually went from the layered bob trend, to the pixie crop hair trends and finally – finally she has slipped herself into the sheer trend. Her hair is back too, which for the wintertime, this is perfect.
The sheer trend started last year and it seems to be dipping into the celebrity pit a little deeper and Katie Holmes is just the beginning. This is definitely a trend that I don’t see going away anytime soon either – especially since our dear Ms. Holmes is wearing it out now.
If you have been trying to work sheer into your style, you could do something like Katie Holmes – just a tank top under a sheer shirt. It looks great and works!

Let’s have a little talk about one of the newest and I think the best trends that seem to be blooming right now. Isabeli Fontana actually started it when she appeared for Vogue in full out tribal wear, but really – this trend is going to keep growing and changing just like the feather trend. Right now though, it is all about editorials and this time, Isabeli Fontana is appearing this way for Vogue Paris.
This little picture is actually just a sneak-peak into the future for it is going to be featured in the November 2009 issue. Isabeli Fontana is a model that has been extremely wanted by many different magazines and I have to say that I personally love her.
I think that she looks fantastic on this particular set and I love the feathered headpiece as well as the jewelry that was placed on her.

The holiday season is coming up quickly, which means that most of us will be attending tons of events. The immediate thought is to dress up to the nines no matter what the activity, but that is not always necessary. For instance, let’s focus on drinks or dinner with friends, which happens frequently during the holidays.
What you want to do here is go with a light touch. If the environment is casual, you should be casual too — it will give you more of an opportunity to let your true self shine through.
Pretty, sheer pink eye shadow is a great idea here, especially if it is a cream shadow. Blush should be pink as well, a creamy, sheer matte. Mascara should be deep brown or black, but just go with one coat.
Last but not least, let your lips glow with a sheer golden gloss.

When you are talking about the hottest hairstyles of this year, there is no question that the bob makes it to the top of the list. Indeed, the bob in some form or fashion may be the hottest hairstyle of the year.
For instance, precision cut bobs have been hugely popular this year, especially when the cut is combined with sleek, smooth styling and a blunt fringe. Bobs should be — and, fortunately, can be — structured so that they accentuate your personal facial structure.
The bob style is versatile, since it can range in length. Some are ear level, some skim the shoulders, and then, of course, there is the asymmetrical bob, made popular by Victoria Beckham. It has evolved into a life of its own, however, with tons of gorgeous variations.

Here, though, is a trend I can get behind. Not only can I live with it, but this time I am the one perpetuating it, please and thank you.
Ties. Girls in ties. Girls rocking ties. Can I get a witness?
I love the androgynous look anyway — on guys and girls. Boys? You go crazy with your eyeliner; you will never hear me calling it “guyliner,” either, that is a horrible word and you do not deserve it because, baby, your eyes look good.
And girls? Grab a fedora, learn to tie a tie, wear it loose and rock it out, because it makes you look as sexy as you please.

I recently had a conversation with my soon to be sister in law. I wish that I had not.
I love this girl, I really do, and I respect her sense of style and her fashion aesthetic — she rocks this laid back, casual, neo hippie kind of thing. But she just opened up my greatest fears.
I hate Uggs. I hate them with a passion, and I was so glad when they finally started falling out of fashion.
But.
I frequent Payless. I am a shoe ho on a budget, what can I say? DSW is out of my league most of the time, I have refused to set foot in Journey’s since I was in high school, you do the math.
And in their unfailing desire to copy every shoe trend ever, Airwalk strikes again. It was bad enough when they started copying Chuck Taylors — I like Chucks, I was just about willing to give the Airwalk version a try.
But knockoff Uggs? Really? And sis wants to buy a pair. People are doing this. They are perpetuating the menace.
STOP IT.
