You should also have three varying black skirts: short, medium, and long. Long skirts — and LBDs — should be worn for more formal occasions, with the former being paired with silk tops in lovely jewel tones.

The medium length skirts and dresses are ideal for more casual parties and get togethers. Again, the skirt can be paired with beautiful silk tops, in more subdued but still lovely shades.

Short skirts and little black dresses are great for the edgy, fun, and slightly wild parties during the holidays.

In all cases, you can really go to town with your accessories. Stand out with your shoes, find the perfect pieces of jewelry, and even get down hot with scarves, hats, gloves, and things of that nature.

As we all well know, the holiday season is finally upon us. We also know that the fundamentals of this part of the year revolve around family, friends, and loved ones: spending time with each other, being thankful, expressing our love for each other — and for getting together to celebrate the season.

There are office parties, family parties, parties being thrown by friends and friends of friends and colleagues and acquaintances: there are so many parties, you can’t even count them!

But that does not mean you have to buy a separate outfit for all of these parties, oh no.

You just need some basic foundations, to begin with, and you can build with there. For instance, start off with the classic LBD, in several styles: short, medium, and long.

This winter and spring, we can look forward to a lot of blasts from the past when it comes to fashion. In particular, a lot of the fashion trends we … “enjoyed” in the 80s will be making a comeback in the upcoming seasons. I know, I know — most of us are left wondering why and hoping that overalls and tie dyed tee shirts will not be included in that comeback. Some aspects of style need to stay one hit wonders. However, those of you who used to be enormous Madonna fans back when she was still a Material Girl are going to want to keep reading…

…so that you can rejoice in the reemergence of ripped stockings. Oh yeah. If you have a pair of pantyhose with tons of runs or some ripped up black tights you’re still hanging onto, haul them out of your drawers, there is a place for them. Specifically, when you pair them with short skirts and chunky, clunky shoes, you’ll be able to make a serious splash on the style scene. And really, of all the 80s trends which could possibly come out of hiding, this one isn’t half so bad. The whole ragged waif look has always been a winner. Just make sure you don’t start spending a fortune buying ripped up stockings at the store. You can do it yourself at home!

The Holidays are a wonderful time to get dressed up and look sexy. I found these two pieces over at Ivillage, and I just had to share them with you. First of all, the beaded shrug is absolutely gorgeous, and only $45 at ShopIntuition.com. It shows just a little skin, but still leaves lots to the imagination. The black strapless taffeta dress, I though, would be perfect for parties or intimate dinners. It’s stunning with the velvet ribbon waist, and it’s just $168 at BananaRepublic.com. Both pieces together would make a beautiful ensemble for the holidays.

Feathers are in for Fall/Winter

I love feathers. I think they look elegant on practically anything (of course even I would have to question their use on shoesJ ) Still, the feather trend is really popular this season. The bag in the picture is from Maison de Vacances, and it’s a beautiful shoulder bag that gives a hint of the feather fashion, without going completely overboard. The red gives a great hint of the bold red hues for fall. This particular bag is $570 at Calypso Christiane Celle in New York City. It’s beautiful, sexy, and would make a wonderful gift for a special lady this Christmas.
